Portacool 30th Anniversary Spotlight – Sandra Mendoza

Founded in 1990, Portacool is celebrating its 30th Anniversary this year. To give you a view into what makes the leader in evaporative cooling tick, we’re spotlighting long-time employees and a few that have made a big impact in a short time to share their memories, experiences and perspectives during their time with the company.

Name: Sandra Mendoza

Role: Kuul Control FirePro 2 Line Lead

Years at Portacool: 4 years

What initially drew you to Portacool? How did you first get involved with Portacool?
I came to Portacool because everyone talked about the great benefits and the good work environment. My friend Raul, who had been at Portacool for 15 years, told me about the company and what a great place it was to work. It is a decision I’m glad I made.

What does your day at Portacool entail?
Every day I come to work I focus on improving production and quality on my line. I encourage my team members to work as a group to reach our goals. In addition, I conduct production meetings with my team to ensure we are all working toward the same goal and on things we can do better each day.

What is your favorite memory from your time at Portacool so far?
When I started at Portacool, I was working on the Vitality lines. I had been with company for about three years when I moved to FirePro 1 Line, where I worked for a few years. I was promoted to FirePro 2 Line as Line Lead in 2019, where I became the first female media line lead. It has been an amazing journey!

How would you describe Portacool?
I come to work every day knowing it is going to feel like a home. I spend more time with the people at my job than I do with my family most weeks. I enjoy spending time with my co-workers and sharing in their accomplishments.
