So, we had to get our experts involved in this one. Who tries to fill an evaporative cooler up with boiling water? What kind of set up do y’all have??? Our experts tell us that intermittently your water temperature can peak at 130°F. Long term, however, your operating water shouldn’t be higher than 100°F. There really is no reason to use hot – or cold water – water can evaporate at any temperature between its boiling and freezing points. Between those points, ultimately the temperature of the water doesn’t really matter. So, we don’t recommend using boiling water in your evaporative cooler.
