A Unique Market

As Portacool ® continues to expand its footprint in the world, we come across a unique market. It is unique due to its industrialization, international trade treaties, tourism but most of all, its geographical location and climate.

Mexico has a distinctive climate diversity. In the North, we will find arid or dry climates; in the south, as in central Mexico and coastal areas, we will find warm and tropical climates. Finally, in the mountain regions, we find temperate climates, becoming cold in their highest peaks.

The Northern Tropic goes through the country, dividing it as tropical and subtropical; due to this, humidity, temperature, rain, and other conditions vary with the influence of the Gulf of Mexico, Pacific Ocean, and the Caribbean. These factors give Mexico the conditions so that our evaporative coolers can be used all year long, even when it’s fall or winter in the Northern Hemisphere.

According to Mexico’s National Weather Service, or Servicio Meteorológico Nacional, the temperatures in the country have increased 1.4 degrees Celsius with reference to data from 1981 to 2010. During this same period, the world temperature has increased .98 degrees. This is creating a bigger demand for solutions to reduce heat stress and comply with health codes regarding safety for workers and increase productivity.

Mexico’s economy opened to the global market back in 1986 after joining the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), which is now the World Trade Organization (WTO). Its geographical position gives it the advantage of trade and commerce through land and sea, giving way to a total of thirteen free trade agreements with fifty countries around the world that are linked to the Mexican economy and its consumers worldwide of goods and services.

Its skilled workers and location have made the country attractive for the investment of international companies for the manufacturing of general goods as well as for the automotive, aerospace, and mining industries. Also, as of 2019, the tourism industry in Mexico has been recognized as the 7th most visited country worldwide, with a total of 45 million visitors, according to information from the United Nations World Tourism Organization.

With Portacool being recognized by transnational companies and organizations worldwide as a solution for high temperatures and heat stress that affects its employees and productivity standards, our distribution network in Mexico is ready to provide them with our evaporative cooling solutions.

In contrast to traditional fans that tend to blow around warm, stagnant air, Portacool portable evaporative coolers work with water, ambient air, and the standard electricity of a household appliance to provide cool air. They are available in a range of sizes, with options that are great for spot-cooling near particularly hot areas, setting up a cooling station for rest breaks, or cooling a full building. All Portacool evaporative coolers come equipped with Kuul evaporative media, the highest quality media available on the market and specifically engineered for Portacool products.

While Portacool, LLC is based in Center, TX, the company has a global presence to best serve customers around the world. While all Portacool evaporative coolers are proudly made in the U.S., inventory is stored in off-site warehouses in Wilmer, Texas. Local, live customer service is based in Center, Texas and Monterrey, Mexico to respond directly to customer needs, and we have sales team members specifically dedicated to the Mexican market.
