Hometown Happiness: The Grand Opening of Portacool Park

What started as a vision by Portacool execs and the city of Center, Texas has culminated into a wonderful reality for the community.  On June 17, the new Portacool Park was unveiled with a grand opening celebration with lots of fun and entertainment for the whole family.

Portacool Park is the culmination of more than a year of project planning and coordination of funding from Portacool, LLC, a grant from Texas Parks and Wildlife, the City, and the Street Improvements for Economic Development. The park facilities include a quarter-mile walking trail, restroom facilities, azalea garden, covered pavilion/basketball court, and a multi-purpose soccer/football field that will accommodate CISD athletics.  True to Portacool form, two evaporative coolers are also housed onsite to keep park patrons comfortably cool.

“At Portacool, we are proud to call Center our home,” said Ben Wulf, CEO of Portacool, LLC, the naming sponsor of the park and funding partner. “We are excited and honored to be able to give back so much to the City of Center, our home, and community.

Since the grand opening, hundreds have been visiting the park each week.

“With a common vision, cooperation, and community partners such as Portacool, it is amazing what can be accomplished,” Chad Nehring, City Manager, said. “We are so pleased with the results of these efforts can not wait for everyone to come out and enjoy this asset to our community.”
